If a car hit you while you were riding a bike in Aventura — on Biscayne Boulevard, along Country Club Drive, or near one of the city’s bike share stations — you may have a claim against the driver’s insurance, and in some situations against whoever was responsible for the road or path where the crash happened. Bicycle accidents can leave you with serious injuries even at low speeds, since a bike offers little protection. A free case review tells you what your situation is worth and what steps come next.
Aventura has made an effort to be bike friendly — the city runs its own bike share program, with docking stations positioned around town so riders can pick up a bike at one and drop it at another, and the city adopted a Unified Master Plan for Pedestrian and Bicycle Connectivity aimed at closing gaps in the network. None of that changes the reality of riding here day to day: much of Biscayne Boulevard and Country Club Drive, two of the roads cyclists use most to get around, don’t have a protected bike lane separating riders from car traffic.
Country Club Drive loops around the golf course and waterways and is popular with recreational riders, but it’s also a route drivers use to get between the causeway and the mall corridor, so cyclists share the road with cars moving at speed. The William Lehman Causeway is worse for this — it was built as a vehicle crossing to Sunny Isles Beach, and for most of its length there still isn’t a separated path, so anyone riding a bike across it is doing so in a traffic lane rather than beside one.
Ives Dairy Road, the main entry point from I-95 into the city, adds another layer — it funnels commuter and delivery traffic straight onto Biscayne Boulevard at rush hour, which is exactly when a driver is least likely to be watching for a cyclist merging or turning. None of this is a reason not to ride in Aventura. It’s a reason that when a driver hits a cyclist here, the crash is rarely just bad luck — and we look closely at where it happened, whether the road itself played a part, and what the driver should have done differently.
A bicycle accident claim can address the medical care your injury requires, wages you lost while recovering, the cost of replacing or repairing your bike and gear, and the physical and emotional toll of the crash. What applies to you depends on your specific case — we’ll go through that in a free case review rather than promise a number here.
You can still have a claim. Riding a shared bike doesn’t change the driver’s responsibility to share the road safely — we’ll look at the crash the same way we would with any other bicycle accident.
