The wreck occurred between three vehicles on Interstate 95 near Milepost 109 at approximately 2:47 a.m. Reports show a 25-year-old woman was operating a gray Toyota headed south in the inside northbound lane of the interstate while a 39-year-old man from Daytona was headed north in the northbound inside lane. The vehicles collided head-on for reasons still being inquired by law enforcement officials.
Due to the initial collision, another driver, identified as a 57-year-old male resident of Port St Lucie, also headed north, attempted to avoid debris on the road when he ran off into a median and hit a tree before stopping. Emergency crews responded to the scene and declared both the 39-year-old and the 57-year-old deceased. The woman was taken to Lawnwood Hospital for treatment. Police in Martin County continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
