Volusia Co., FL (November 27, 2024) – A traffic accident with injuries was reported to police in Volusia County on November 27. Reports show the collision involved seven vehicles, including two semi-trucks, on Interstate 4 near mile marker 112. The Florida Highway Patrol reports that a semi-truck failed to slow down for stopped traffic just before 5:00 a.m. This caused a chain-reaction crash involving several vehicles. Four people were taken to the hospital, police said. Multiple responders blocked the roadway for some time on Wednesday morning, and local drivers were stuck in traffic for an extended period. Police continue to investigate.
We hope for the full recovery of the injured victims.
Florida Car Accidents
Car accidents can happen at any time and for a variety of reasons. Florida, unfortunately, ranks as one of the most dangerous states in the country when it comes to serious car accidents. On average, there are more than 1,000 car accidents in Florida every single day, causing injuries to hundreds of thousands of people each year. Tragically, more than 3,000 people lose their lives annually in Florida car accidents.
Large 18-wheeler trucks can weigh up to 80,000 pounds. This is approximately 20 times heavier than the average passenger vehicle. Even at low speeds, a semi-truck crash can end in serious or even deadly injuries. Information provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Association shows that over 4,000 people lost their lives in commercial truck accidents in the US in 2022.
In the unfortunate circumstance that you or a loved one of yours sustains injuries in a traffic accident involving a semi-truck, you can learn more about your legal rights as an injured accident victim when you work with a personal injury attorney. An experienced car crash attorney can help you exercise your existing legal rights so you can collect the maximum financial compensation for your injuries and losses.
Negligent driving is often the cause of many car accidents. Drivers who engage in dangerous behaviors such as driving under the influence, texting while driving, driving while fatigued, or speeding are putting everyone on the road at risk. Nearly all car accidents in the U.S.—about 90-99%—are caused by some form of negligent driving. If you or a loved one is injured in a crash caused by someone else’s carelessness, you may be entitled to compensation for the damages you’ve suffered. This can include not only medical expenses and vehicle repairs but also lost wages and other financial losses. Additionally, compensation may be available for non-economic damages like pain and suffering.
