St Johns Co., FL (April 19, 2025) – A 35-year-old woman lost her life in a traffic accident in St Johns County on Friday night, April 18. Sources say the collision took place on State Road 16 at approximately 6:31 p.m. Police say a man from St Augustine was headed north on Whisper Ridge Road approaching SR-16 while a woman was traveling east in a different vehicle on SR-16.
Investigators say the man failed to yield to the woman and took a left-hand turn in front of her vehicle. This caused the woman to hit the man’s car. Due to injuries she sustained in the collision, the woman lost her life. At this time, her name has not been reported. Police in St Johns County continue to investigate the details of the accident.
We want to offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased victim.
Florida Car Crashes
Each year in the United States, millions of motor vehicle collisions are reported. On average, about 6 million crashes take place nationwide, resulting in approximately 3 million injuries and more than 35,000 fatalities. In Florida alone, hundreds of thousands of accidents are recorded annually—leading to injuries for over 100,000 people and claiming the lives of more than 3,000 individuals.
When someone you love loses their life in a car accident, the pain is unimaginable. Beyond the emotional devastation, families are often left overwhelmed by sudden financial burdens, unanswered questions, and the complex process of seeking justice. In many cases, these fatal accidents are caused by driver negligence—whether through distraction, impairment, speeding, or reckless behavior. Distracted driving, in particular, has become one of the leading causes of deadly crashes, largely fueled by the widespread use of smartphones behind the wheel.
If you’ve lost a loved one in a preventable crash, you may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. These claims can provide surviving family members with compensation for funeral and burial expenses, medical bills, lost income, and the immense emotional toll of the loss. Even if your loved one may have shared some degree of responsibility in the crash, you could still be eligible for compensation under Florida’s comparative negligence laws.
Working with a compassionate wrongful death attorney can make all the difference. A skilled legal advocate can investigate the crash, gather vital evidence, handle communications with insurance companies, and fight for the maximum compensation your family deserves.
