
Plantation Key, FL (March 23, 2025) – On Friday, a man from North Carolina lost his life in a pedestrian crash in Plantation Key.
Reports from police show the wreck occurred at approximately 8:40 p.m. when the 70-year-old was walking on the sidewalk near the southbound lanes of US 1 at mile marker 90. For reasons still under law enforcement investigation, a Hyundai IONIQ left the roadway and hit him, police said. The driver remained at the scene and a criminal investigation is currently pending. The victim was transported to Mariners Hospital in Tavernier, where he later lost his life. At this time, his name has not been reported. Police in Plantation Key continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the accident.
