Plantation, FL (March 20, 2025) – One person lost their life, and several others were injured after a wrong-way driver was fleeing from authorities and caused a collision. The wreck occurred in Plantation on Wednesday night, March 19, just before 7:30 p.m. Police and EMS responded to the scene near University Drive and Marcano Boulevard. Information from the Florida Highway Patrol shows the incident began when police saw the driver commit a traffic violation on Florida’s Turnpike. The driver of the vehicle, a Ford Focus, failed to stop after police turned on their lights. As officers pursued them, the suspect was driving recklessly at high speeds. Eventually, the driver began traveling on the wrong side of the road where they struck a vehicle before driving head-on into a second one, before colliding with yet a third vehicle. Three individuals were transported to the hospital with injuries as a result of the reckless incident. The suspect was found deceased inside the Focus. Police have not released the suspect’s identity at this time. Police in Plantation continue to investigate.
