
Palmetto, FL (April 8, 2025) – A woman suffered life-threatening injuries in a collision that reportedly took the life of her unborn child in Palmetto. According to information provided by Palmetto Police, troopers responded to the scene at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 6, on the DeSoto Bridge.
A 31-year-old driver was traveling in a GMC SUV headed south in the northbound lanes of the road when he struck the woman’s sedan head-on. The woman was identified as a 28-year-old St Petersburg resident. Both drivers were transported to the hospital with injuries. The woman reportedly sustained critical injuries and remains hospitalized. Her unborn child did not survive. The other driver was arrested and charged in connection with the crash. Police in Palmetto continue to investigate the collision to determine its cause.
