Florida Car Accidents
In 2023, Florida saw over 391,000 auto accidents, resulting in approximately 250,000 injuries and over 3,300 deaths. This was a slight drop from 2022, which saw 397,500 accidents, 252,123 injuries, and 3,574 fatalities. Despite this improvement, the state’s crash rates remain alarming. Especially, hit-and-run crashes made up approximately 26% of total accidents in 2023, with 95,543 cases leading to 20,569 injuries and 241 deaths.
Several factors contribute to the high rate of crashes in Florida. Driver distraction is a main contributor, including texting and driving, adjusting in-vehicle technology, and talking with other people inside the vehicle. Speeding and reckless driving, particularly on busy highways, is also a major concern. Intoxicated driving, such as driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol, remains a persistent issue, impairing the judgment of drivers and their reaction times. Additionally, the unpredictable weather in Florida, including hurricanes, heavy rains, and more, creates dangerous driving environments, often causing collisions when drivers fail to adjust their driving behavior accordingly.
More often than not, auto collisions happen due to the actions of negligent drivers. Negligent driving can come in countless forms, causing over 90% of reported crashes in the US today.
When you or someone you love is hurt in a crash caused by negligence, you should be able to recover without having to worry about money. Working with a car crash attorney can help you get the financial compensation you need and deserve during this troubling time. You may be eligible to gather compensation for the aforementioned damages and more.
