Mims, FL (December 10, 2024) – One man lost his life and a woman was seriously hurt on Tuesday, December 10, in a traffic accident in Mims. Reports from authorities show the single-vehicle accident happened on US Highway 1 near Montgomery Road at around 1:15 p.m. Police say the man, age 28, was operating a 2007 Nissan 350Z headed north on US 1 above the posted speed limit when his vehicle left the roadway and went into a ditch, causing the pair to be ejected from the vehicle.
The man lost his life at the scene. The woman was transported by helicopter to Holmes Regional Medical Center in critical condition. The highway was blocked while responders worked at the scene, forcing motorists in the area to use alternate routes. Police in Mims continue to investigate.
We want to offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased victim. We also hope for the full recovery of the injured individual.
Florida Traffic Accidents
About 40 crashes are reported per hour in Florida. About 40% of these wrecks will end in injuries for at least one involved party. For example, on any given day in the Sunshine State, about 1,100 vehicle wrecks are reported. About 450 of these will cause injuries to involved parties. Being injured in a car wreck can be a very difficult and stressful experience. If you or someone you love has recently been hurt in a crash, you may qualify for financial compensation to help you get your life back on track.
A car crash attorney can help you recover in more ways than one. A skilled and compassionate attorney will help you seek the appropriate medical care for your injuries, the proper therapist for your emotional needs, as well as any other professional help you may need in the aftermath of your accident. Unfortunately, the more help you require after a serious auto accident, the easier it will be for you to collect financial compensation to help you cover the cost of it all.
This is especially true when the actions of a negligent driver caused your wreck. Driver negligence is totally illegal and extremely common in the United States. Approximately 95% of all reported car crashes throughout the country are the result of driver negligence. Drivers who are drunk, high, distracted, overtired, and driving at unsafe speeds cause the majority of auto accidents in the US; therefore, it is likely your wreck happened due to the actions of a negligent party.
If you have lost a loved one in a fatal accident that you believe may have been caused by a negligent driver, working with a lawyer can help you recover financially. You may be eligible to collect compensation for losses and damages like funeral costs and more.
