Marion County, FL (April 20, 2025) – A tragic incident unfolded Saturday afternoon in Marion County when a pedestrian lost their life after being hit by a pickup truck along a busy stretch of U.S. 441.
The collision occurred on April 19, just after 1:15 p.m., near the intersection with Southeast 151st Street. According to information from the Florida Highway Patrol, a Chevrolet pickup truck driven by a 57-year-old man from Inverness was heading south in the outside lane of U.S. 441. At the same time, a pedestrian was walking southbound close to the same lane, pushing a metal cart.
Authorities stated that the right front section of the truck struck the pedestrian, resulting in the individual being thrown in a southwesterly direction. The person ultimately came to rest on the grassy shoulder on the west side of the road.
The Florida Highway Patrol confirmed the pedestrian died as a result of the crash, though it remains unclear whether the death occurred at the scene or later at a medical facility. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
Emergency personnel responded quickly to assess the scene, while investigators worked to gather details about the cause of the crash. No other injuries were reported in connection with the incident, and the driver of the pickup remained at the scene during the investigation.
