Jacksonville, FL (October 5, 2024) – A teenage boy lost his life and three other teens were hurt in a crash on J Turner Butler Boulevard on Friday night, October 4.
Information provided by the Florida Highway Patrol shows the incident occurred at around 10:00 p.m. when a Lexus GS, a Dodge Charger and a Genesis GV70 were headed west on JTB at Southside Boulevard when the Lexus and the Charger were involved in a collision. The Charger then collided with the Genesis. The Florida Highway Patrol reports the Lexus rolled several times and one of the passengers was thrown from the vehicle. The passenger was identified as a 15-year-old boy from Jacksonville who died in the accident.
The Lexus’s driver, a 16-year-old resident of Jacksonville, suffered serious injuries. Two other passengers, a 16-year-old and a 15-year-old, also suffered serious injuries in the accident. The Dodge Charger was operated by a man from Middleburg, age 27, who suffered minor injuries. The driver of the Genesis was identified as a 51-year-old from Jacksonville who also suffered minor injuries. All westbound lanes of JTB near Belfort Road were shut down for several hours due to the accident. Police in Jacksonville continue to investigate the incident.
