Hernando County, FL (September 21, 2024) – Two drivers lost their lives early Saturday, September 21, in a collision in Hernando County.
The Florida Highway Patrol reports the wreck occurred near County Line Road just before 1:00 a.m. A man from Homosassa, age 45, was operating a Volkswagen Jetta headed south in the northbound lanes of State Road 589 when he struck a Honda Odyssey headed north. The Odyssey was operated by a woman, age 47, from Homosassa. Police say both vehicles flipped and the drivers lost their lives at the scene. Two passengers present in the Honda at the time of the accident, both aged 20, suffered moderate injuries. They were transported to the hospital for treatment. Police continue to investigate the incident.
