Davenport, FL (November 5, 2024) – One man lost his life after a two-car accident on Sunday morning, November 3, in Davenport. Information provided by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office shows the wreck occurred at approximately 8:33 a.m. Polk County deputies and the Polk County fire Rescue Squad arrived at the scene shortly after the crash located on US 27 near Poitras Road Two.
Investigators report an 84-year-old operating a 2021 Ford EcoSport SUV attempted to turn left onto Poitras Two Road before crossing into the path of a 2018 Mazda sedan operated by a 27-year-old. The elderly driver suffered internal injuries as well as blunt force trauma. He was airlifted to a hospital in Osceola County. He lost his life during emergency surgery a short time later. For approximately three and a half hours, the southbound lanes of US 27 were closed while responders worked in the area. The incident is currently under investigation by local law enforcement officials.
