Collier Co., FL (December 21, 2024) – A 25-year-old woman from North Carolina lost her life in a multi-vehicle collision early Saturday morning on Interstate 75 at mile marker 108 near Pine Ridge Road.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, law enforcement was managing an earlier minor collision when the fatal crash occurred. An FDOT Road Ranger Service Truck was stationed in the northbound lane with traffic cones and emergency lights deployed. The Road Ranger truck was assisting with a temporary lane closure while a Collier County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle and a tow truck were stopped ahead to remove a disabled Toyota Corolla.
A Paint Striping Truck traveling north on I-75 struck the back of the stationary Road Ranger truck. The force of the collision pushed the Road Ranger into the sheriff’s patrol vehicle, which then impacted the Corolla.
The driver of the Paint Striping Truck, a 25-year-old woman, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. The Road Ranger driver, a 44-year-old man from Naples, and the sheriff’s deputy, a 37-year-old man from Fort Myers, both sustained minor injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.
The crash also caused a spill of approximately 100 gallons of paint across the interstate. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim and hope for a swift recovery for the injured.

Truck accidents in Florida are a critical safety concern due to the frequency and severity of these incidents. Data indicates that heavy trucks are involved in thousands of crashes annually across the state, often resulting in life-altering consequences. The size and weight of commercial vehicles make collisions more dangerous, especially in multi-vehicle scenarios like the one described above.
Collisions involving commercial trucks can stem from various causes, including mechanical failures, driver fatigue, or poor visibility. Victims of truck accidents often face numerous challenges, including physical injuries, financial burdens, and emotional distress. Compensation is crucial for recovery, as it can cover medical expenses, lost wages, and pain and suffering.
