Seminole Co., FL (March 16, 2025) – A man from Orlando lost his life and five others were injured in a collision that occurred on Interstate 4 in Seminole County. Responders were dispatched to the scene at approximately 3:57 a.m. near mile marker 94 and the Exit to State Road 434 in Wekiwa Springs.
According to a crash report from the Florida Highway Patorl (FHP), the crash involved a 2012 Honda Accord, a 2007 Peterbilt tractor-trailer, and a 2025 Honda Odyssey. The Accord was driven by a man from Orlando, age 36, who was headed east in the westbound lanes while the Odyssey was headed west in the same lane. The front of the Accord collided with the front of the Odyssey, causing the Accord to hit the middle guardrail and the Odyssey to enter the outside lane, where it was struck by the front of the tractor-trailer.
The Orlando man was transported to a local medical center, where he was pronounced deceased. Five people were present in the Odyssey, including two children, a 35-year-old man, a 59-year-old woman, and a 33-year-old woman. All sustained injuries and were transported to local hospitals for treatment. The 58-year-old Port Orange man driving the tractor-trailer was not injured. Police in Seminole County continue to investigate the incident.
We want to offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased victim. We also wish for the rapid recovery of all the wounded individuals.
Florida Traffic Collisions
Auto accidents happen constantly in Florida, with more than 1,000 reported per day. Florida is among the top three states in the nation with the most reported auto accidents per year. This is mostly due to the high population in the state, paired with the high tourist rate. This makes traffic extremely heavy on busy highways and intersections, where collisions are most common. Unfortunately, negligence is the main cause of the majority of collisions, including things like intoxication, speeding, distraction, and fatigue.
Throughout the nation, over 6 million auto collisions are reported annually. Roughly 3 million people are hurt in these crashes, while more than 40,000 end up losing their lives. Being hurt in a serious crash can be an extremely difficult experience. If this has happened to you or someone you love, you may be wondering where you can turn for help.
