Polk Co., FL (October 13, 2024) – A woman from Haines County lost her life on Friday night when she was involved in a collision with a semi-truck in Polk County. The Florida Highway Patrol reports the wreck occurred at around 10:40 p.m. on Bannon Island Road near Detour Road. For unknown reasons, the woman and the tractor-trailer collided when the truck was headed south on Detour Road. Paramedics pronounced the woman deceased at the scene. Police in Polk County are still working to investigate the details of the accident.
