Palm Beach Co., FL (November 24, 2024) – Two deputies lost their lives and another suffered critical injuries after a traffic accident occurred on November 21 in Palm Beach County. Reports show the deputies were directing traffic on State Road 80 when one deputy’s motorcycle stalled due to a mechanical issue. The deputy then contacted his two colleagues to help remove his bike from the roadway. The three officers were waiting for another officer to deliver battery cables when the collision took place. A woman headed east on SR-80 veered off of the roadway to avoid crashing into a vehicle in front of her that had slowed down. She overcorrected and hit all three deputies with her SUV, reports said.
The crash caused all three officers to become airborne in different directions. The incident took place just before 9:30 a.m. All deputies were then taken to a local hospital before two succumbed to their injuries. The victims were identified as Corporal Luis Paez and Deputy Ralph “Butch” Waller. The driver of the SUV was only identified as a 31-year-old woman from Pennsylvania. She sustained minor injuries in the crash. Police in Palm Beach County continue to investigate the details of the accident.
We want to offer our sincere condolences to the families of the deceased victims at this time.
Florida Traffic Collisions
A car crash can be stressful and overwhelming; however, it does not have to dictate your future. A large percentage of the car accidents reported in the US happen due to the actions of negligent drivers. Unfortunately, some drivers show no concern for their safety or the safety of others on the road and constantly place themselves and others at severe risk for injuries and even death.
