Florida Pedestrian Accidents
According to A Safer Florida, the Sunshine State has the highest pedestrian death rate in the nation. This could also be because Florida possesses one of the highest populations in the nation which, in turn, makes for high accident rates.
As of recent data, between 2010 and 2021, pedestrian fatalities in the United States have been on the rise. In 2021 alone, over 7,500 pedestrians lost their lives in accidents, reflecting a significant increase compared to previous years. The overall number of pedestrian fatalities has increased by nearly 50% since 2009.
Pedestrians are at an increased risk of suffering severe and/or fatal injuries in traffic accidents due to being unprotected while traveling alongside much larger, faster vehicles. The consequences of serious pedestrian accidents can be extremely overwhelming and negatively affect multiple areas of a person’s life, including their physical, mental, emotional, and financial health.
