
Orange City, FL (January 10, 2025) – Police report that a wrong-way crash in Orange City ended in one fatality and injuries on January 7. Information from preliminary reports shows the wreck occurred on the Veterans Memorial Parkway when a 2010 Mercedes SUV was headed north in the southbound lanes and, for reasons that are still being investigated, collided with a 2018 Kia van head-on.
The driver of the Mercedes SUV was identified as 44-year-old Jairam Singh of Deltona. Singh was traveling with one passenger, identified as Samantha Marshall, 45, also of Deltona. Singh was transported to HCSA Florida Lake Monroe Hospital with injuries. Marshall was transported to Advent Health Fish Memorial Hospital in Orange City, where she was pronounced deceased a short time later. The driver of the Kia, a woman from Deltona, 38, and her passenger, a 74-year-old man from Deltona, both suffered serious injuries and were transported to area hospitals in stable condition. Police in Orange City continue to investigate why the collision occurred.
