Miami Gardens, FL (March 14, 2025) – A serious crash involving a car and a semi-truck on Florida’s Turnpike early Friday morning left traffic disrupted in Miami Gardens.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) reported that the crash happened on March 14 in the northbound lanes of the Turnpike at Northwest 199th Street, around 5:22 a.m. Video footage from the scene showed a severely damaged car wedged beneath the back of a tractor-trailer. The front half of the vehicle appeared nearly flattened before being removed and towed from the scene.
Officials confirmed that injuries were reported in the crash, but details regarding the number of victims and their conditions have not yet been released. Two lanes were blocked for several hours as crews worked to clear the wreckage.
Authorities advised drivers to use alternate routes such as Interstate 95, US 441, or South Dixie Highway. Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the crash.
Our thoughts are with those involved, and we hope for a full recovery for any injured victims.
Truck Accidents in Florida
Florida sees thousands of truck accidents every year, many of which result in severe injuries or fatalities. With major highways like the Turnpike and I-95 running through the state, commercial trucks are a common sight on the roads. According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, over 32,000 crashes involving large trucks were reported in 2023 alone.
Truck accidents can happen for many reasons, including:
- Underride Collisions – When a smaller vehicle crashes into the back or side of a semi-truck and becomes trapped underneath, the results can be catastrophic. These accidents often occur due to sudden braking, poor visibility, or failure to notice stopped trucks.
- Driver Fatigue – Long-haul truck drivers often work extended hours, increasing the risk of drowsy driving and slower reaction times.
- Brake Failures – Mechanical failures, such as faulty brakes or tire blowouts, can make it difficult for truck drivers to stop in time to avoid a collision.
- Blind Spots – Large trucks have significant blind spots on all sides, making it harder for truckers to see nearby vehicles, particularly when changing lanes.
Victims of truck accidents often face extensive medical bills, vehicle repairs, and time away from work. Seeking legal representation can be crucial in holding responsible parties accountable and securing compensation.
