Lake Placid, FL (November 4, 2024) – A two-car wreck happened in Lake Placid that caused nine people to sustain injuries. According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 6:00 p.m. on November 1, when a pickup truck carrying four teens was headed north on Catfish Creek Road, approaching the intersection with Catfish Lane. At the same time, a sedan was traveling south on Catfish Creek Road carrying one adult and five kids ranging from age 7 to 15.
The 16-year-old driver of the pickup, along with a 19 and 16-year-old, all suffered serious injuries. Another passenger, age 18, suffered minor injuries. In the sedan, a 49-year-old driver suffered serious injuries, along with four passengers aged 7, 11, 14, and 15. Another 7-year-old in the vehicle suffered serious injuries. At this time, police in Lake Placid continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
