
Lake Co., FL (March 6, 2025) – A fatal traffic accident occurred in Lake County on Wednesday, March 5. The Florida Highway Patrol reports the wreck occurred on State Road 33 just south of County Road 474. A 39-year-old man suffered serious injuries, and a 27-year-old woman lost her life in the wrong-way collision. Troopers reported that the wreck took place at approximately 12:58 a.m. on Wednesday. A 2004 GMC Sierra was headed north in the southbound lane when a 2007 Hyundai Sonata was headed south. The GMC was driving the wrong way and traveled directly into the path of the Hyundai, police said. FHP states the vehicles collided head-on, causing the Hyundai to rotate counter-clockwise and the GMC to overturn. The driver of the GMC, the 39-year-old man, was taken to Osceola Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. The 27-year-old female driver of the Hyundai was rushed to Lakeland Regional Medical Center where she later lost her life. Police in Lake County continue to investigate the details of the accident.
