Escambia Co., FL (March 26, 2025) – A three-vehicle collision occurred in Escambia County on Monday, March 24, that ended in critical injuries for three people. The Florida Highway Patrol reports the wreck occurred on Interstate 10 near mile marker 7.5 when a tractor-trailer was headed east on the interstate. At the same time, around 8:00 a.m., a truck tractor and a sedan were headed west. Officials say the tractor-trailer began to hydroplane, crossed the center median, and entered the westbound travel lanes of Interstate 10. The front of the semi-truck then struck the left side of the truck tractor. This caused the truck tractor to head north where it struck the left side of the sedan. The sedan then left the road and overturned, police said. All three drivers were transported to local hospitals with critical injuries. Police in Escambia County continue to investigate.
We hope for the full recovery of the injured victims.
Florida Semi-Truck Accidents
Traffic collisions can happen at any time, for any reason. In Florida, there are more auto accidents reported than in almost any other state. On average, more than 1,000 reported traffic collisions take place annually in the Sunshine State. Hundreds are hurt in these crashes per day, while some victims even end up losing their lives due to the extent of their injuries. Sadly, over 3,000 people are killed yearly in Florida traffic accidents.
Large 18-wheelers can cause significant harm when they become involved in auto collisions. The average semi-truck is approximately 20 times larger than the average passenger vehicle. Even at low speeds, a tractor-trailer collision can cause severe or even fatal injuries. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports that more than 4,000 people were killed in semi-truck crashes in 2022.

Driver negligence is behind over 90% of reported traffic accidents, including semi-truck crashes. Unfortunately, semi-truck drivers often travel for long periods, which can make them drowsy while operating their large rigs. Sometimes, truck drivers even use drugs so they can travel long distances, which can put everyone on the road around them at risk of sustaining serious or even deadly injuries.
