Florida Traffic Collisions
Every year, Florida sees more than 400,000 vehicle accidents, resulting in over 150,000 injuries and more than 3,000 deaths. The leading cause of these crashes is driver distraction, which mirrors national trends where negligence behind the wheel—speeding, intoxication, distraction, and fatigue—accounts for the vast majority of accidents across the U.S.
Nationwide, over 6 million car crashes occur annually, injuring more than 3 million people. Tens of thousands of lives are lost due to drivers not paying attention. Distractions like texting, talking to passengers, or adjusting the radio take drivers’ focus off the road, creating dangerous situations for everyone. In the past decade, texting and driving have become a significant issue, with millions of drivers choosing to use their phones while behind the wheel. This reckless behavior puts countless lives at risk, and those who cause accidents due to texting should be held accountable.
